Message to the Ambassador of the Czech Republic calling for the cancellation of hosting a meeting with the NGO Monitor A meeting that provides a platform to incite against the Palestinian Civil Society and Palestinian rights
The Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO), the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC), and the Consortium of Jerusalemite Human Rights Organizations have sent a letter to Mr. Martin Straubenko, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Israel, calling him to cancel the planned embassy activity today, Thursday, June 25, 2020, where the embassy will host representatives of the “NGO Monitor”, to address all the European Union ambassadors in Tel Aviv, knowing that the aforementioned organization is known for its defamation and smear campaigns against Palestinian civil society organizations, specifically human rights organizations. The real mission of the NGO Monitor is to whitewash Israel’s 53-year-long military occupation, its vast violations of human rights in Palestine, as well as to target, distort and shrink the space of NGOs which criticize and oppose the Israeli occupation. In close coordination with the Israeli Government and the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs, which in turn had previously launched aggressive campaigns against the European Union itself, accusing it of financing incitement and terrorism. It is expected that the focus of the meeting will be inciting against Palestinian institutions in an attempt to question their legitimacy and stigmatize/ equate them with terrorism in an effort to dry up their sources of support.
The message considered the hosting of the meeting by the Czech Republic ambassador as participation in the violation of Palestinians’ rights.
Copies of the letter were distributed to all European embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Tel Aviv.
