PNGO Warns of Serious Implications of the Israeli Occupation's Prevention of Food Aid Entry to Gaza and Northern Gaza Strip
19 Jul 2024
The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) strongly warns of the serious implications of the Israeli occupation preventing the entry of various humanitarian aid, especially food, into Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip.
PNGO points out that the Israeli occupation imposes restrictions on the entry of aid, particularly vegetables, proteins, and infant formula, except for limited quantities of certain canned food items into Gaza and the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli occupation prevents the entry of most types of food, which has exacerbated health conditions and led to increased levels of malnutrition, especially among children, amid the deteriorating health system.
PNGO confirms that it has received dozens of appeals from its members regarding the worsening famine situation in Gaza and the northern Gaza Strip due to the depletion and shortage of many types of food because of the Israeli occupation's prevention of aid entry. As a result, their basic food has become a loaf of bread.
PNGO considers that the actions of the Israeli occupation, including killing, destruction, forcing citizens into repeated displacement, and preventing food, water, and fuel to operate hospitals, water wells, and desalination plants, constitute a part of the genocide that the occupation continues to commit against our people, especially children.
PNGO emphasizes that international silence and the weak international response to this unprecedented humanitarian crisis are being exploited by the Israeli occupation to target the lives of our people and deepen the humanitarian crisis.
PNGO calls on all international bodies, UN agencies, and international organizations to work seriously to pressure for an end to the aggression and to ensure the entry of aid in all its forms to all areas of the Gaza Strip, especially to Gaza and the northern Gaza Strip.
