Statement by the Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO)
The Palestinian NGOs Network Calls for Immediate Humanitarian Intervention and Lifting of the Unlawful Blockade on the Gaza Strip
The Palestinian NGOs Network renews its urgent call to international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to save the lives of thousands of displaced citizens—victims of the occupation’s crimes—whose shelters and displacement tents have been swept away by the heavy rains and flooding caused by the severe weather hitting the Palestinian territories since dawn today, Tuesday. This has led to the destruction and inundation of dozens of tents, particularly in the central areas and Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
In light of the harsh weather conditions and the extensive damage they have caused across various aspects of life—especially displacement and shelter centers—PNGO calls for the immediate entry of tents, essential supplies, food, and relief materials, as well as enabling the relevant authorities—civil defense, the health sector, and local and international organizations—to work freely to save lives. PNGO condemns the ongoing obstruction of the entry of essential materials, a practice that constitutes a continuation of its policy of genocide and the tightening of the unlawful blockade on the Strip. This comes in addition to allowing the entry of fewer than 200 trucks per day out of the 600 trucks that were agreed upon, further worsening the daily humanitarian catastrophe faced by the population.
PNGO stresses that with more than 92% of buildings in Gaza destroyed and the Strip declared a humanitarian disaster zone, the situation requires genuine international will to address the impact of the storm and the deepening daily humanitarian crisis. Reports by international organizations indicate that more than 90% of citizens are suffering from malnutrition due to severe shortages of food, contaminated water, and the absence of basic living conditions—amid continued daily bombardment that has resulted in more than 339 martyrs and 871 injured, during more than 500 daily violations of the ceasefire agreement, alongside continued demolitions and forced displacement.
PNGO also condemns the expansion of violations by the occupying authorities in the West Bank, including Jerusalem—from home demolitions and land confiscations to the imposition of discriminatory measures on the ground as part of the ongoing annexation and escalation plans.
The Palestinian NGOs Network calls for the following:
1. Immediate lifting of the unlawful blockade on the Gaza Strip and unconditional entry of humanitarian aid.
2. Full access for local and international emergency and humanitarian teams to carry out their duties without restrictions.
3. Urgent provision of tents, shelter materials, and necessary equipment for displaced families affected by flooding.
4. Effective international pressure to stop ongoing violations and crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.
5. Immediate protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law.
