The Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO) condemns, in the strongest terms, Israel’s escalating crimes, including inflicting collective punishment, arbitrary detentions, harassments and road blockades across Palestine.

PNGO calls on the international community, its States, people and civil society organizations to take punitive and deterrent measures to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, including in East Jerusalem, Nablus, Hebron, Jenin, Gaza, and others.

PNGO warns the international community that by allowing the ‘status quo’ to remain in the oPt, apartheid Israel will continue to enjoy total impunity, which only encourages and rewards further violence and crimes against the Palestinian people, including children and women.

Israel, the occupying power, continues to employ policies, measures and actions against the Palestinian people with full impunity: to seize their land and deprive them of their basic human rights; in violation of the principles of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter; in breach violation  of international humanitarian law and international human rights law (war crimes and crimes against humanity);  in violation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions; as well as in violation of the values and principles upon which the international system is based.

Israeli occupying forces have been carrying out large-scale incursions in the Anata and Shu’fat Refugee Camps since last week, besieging hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in a large prison. Residents of the two refugee camps are subjected to house raids and arbitrary arrests, and they are currently denied access to basic human needs such as healthcare, food, education, and social services.

Israeli occupying forces intentionally target defenseless civilians and murder them in cold blood. Israeli soldiers used tear gas against civilians in Kufr ‘Aqab on October 12, 2022, killing a Palestinian infant.  These recent killings coincide with Israeli military raids and targeting holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem, arresting and harassing worshippers. The overarching Israeli government policy of maintaining Israeli settlers’ dominance and committing grave violations against Palestinians is consistent, yet contradictory to, all provisions of international law.

Palestinian prisoners are also subjected to arbitrary detentions and unfair trials before military courts, which exposes them to more human rights violations since they are deprived of means to defend themselves from extrajudicial execution, enforced disappearances, torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment.

The international community must hold Israel, the occupying power, accountable for its large-scale political tools of intimidation against Palestinian prisoners, frequently used in tandem with other human rights violations.

PNGO affirms that there should be no acceptance of, or capitulation to, these crime against the Palestinian people. A whole system of international laws prohibits settler colonialism, deliberate killings, arbitrary detentions, and empower the Palestinian side to confront and defeat it as a prelude to ending the occupation.
